BotScout Discussion / Re: BotScout module for Drupal
« on: December 04, 2015, 01:06:19 PM »
The BotScout module for Drupal now supports Drupal 8. I have removed the email notifications for the time and plan on replacing it with optional daily reports in the next version, The old email notifications got to be too much I got hundreds of emails per day so decided to replace this with one daily report.
If you find any bugs or want to see a new feature please let me know over at the issue tracker on Drupal
https://www.drupal.org/project/issues/botscout

Download the latest versions for Drupal 7 and Drupal 8 at

Hi I have updated the BotScout module for Drupal and I have just got approved and it has become a fully supported Drupal module. Get the latest download always at
https://www.drupal.org/project/botscout
All bug reports and feature requests should be done at the projects issue tracker so that they may be fixed faster. I do visit this forum here and there but keeping everything together in the bug tracker will help the development of the module. The issue tracker can be found at
https://www.drupal.org/project/issues/botscout

Drupal 7x is the only supported version at this time, development for Drupal 8x has begun but is in early stages.

Hope you all enjoy this module, please let me know of any bugs or features you would like to see in future versions.

BotScout Discussion / Re: Submittion Error from Godaddy server
« on: January 28, 2012, 05:04:29 PM »
yeah I coordinate with them and see if they have any ideas its strange though that the only website it wont fetch from is yours so I thought i would check with you. Checked all my sites that use my module and they are throwing the same errors. Last time it was able to correctly get a response from your server seems to be on the 24th. Ill be calling godaddy soon and seeing if they can help with the problem so that I can continue development on the botscout drupal module, Cheers

BotScout Discussion / Submittion Error from Godaddy server
« on: January 28, 2012, 02:00:28 PM »
there seems to be a problem with my godaddy server communicating with your server. To explain why I believe this,

I went to do some upgrades to the BotScout Drupal module but before I could change anything I noticed it wasn't working correctly.

It would throw an error that showed it wasnt getting a response from the query to your server

so I try from my home server and it works

Heres you can see the response from my home server

http://www.bluesheep-security.info/test.php

And the same file on my godaddy server

http://www.acetolyne.net/Development6/test.php

(if you wait long enough it throws an error about connection timeout)

Warning: file_get_contents(http://botscout.com/test/?name=acetolyne) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: Connection timed out in /home/content/a/c/e/acetolyne/html/Development6/test.php on line 3

So I think okay my godaddy server has a problem? It was working before and all of a sudden quit?

So I file_get_contents() something else from another site it works just fine.

here it gets the robots.txt file from youtube

http://www.acetolyne.net/Development6/test2.php

Ok then why the response from your server?

So I try to wget a file on your server and still I get an error

I use wget http://www.botscout.com/download.php?file=1

It starts downloading but then throws the error

Connection reset by peer retrying

after that it keeps repeating Connection timed out

Is your server blocking godaddy's server maybe or does anyone have any other ideas as to what might be happening?

Thx for your time in resolving this issue

BotScout Discussion / Drupal module update
« on: August 18, 2011, 03:29:20 PM »
hey guys its been a while Ive been pretty busy lately but thought I would update everyone on the status of the Botscout Drupal module I developed. The latest version can always be found at http://drupal.org/sandbox/acetolyne/1082234
At this time there is only a module for Drupal 6x. I will be finishing up on the Drupal 7x module soon and it will be available at the same page. At this time I am still awaiting it to be approved to be fully supported at which time you will be able to download the module via http. Right now you must use git or view the repository and copy the files manually. Due to Drupal rules I cannot offer the module anywhere else this is to ensure that the user always gets the most up to date version.
Waiting for someone to review and accept my module so that it can become a fully supported module has been a long wait. At this time the code works great although in the future I will focus on improving the performance of the module it works good and I activly use it on many sites. Theonly reason it hasnt been accepted as fully supported at this time is my commenting styles. I have to stick to certain styling for comments for it to become fully supported.
Until recently I had no desire to update my sites to Drupal 7x as there was still many add-on modules that were not available for D7. I plan on gettting the BotScout module for D7 working real soon and updating my sites as well.
As always if you have any comments or questions please feel free to post here and I will be happy to help you with the Drupal Module in any way.

BotScout Discussion / Re: Bot report
« on: April 07, 2011, 12:58:31 AM »
The correct way to submit your own bot report is by visiting the page located here:

http://botscout.com/bot_submitter.htm

please use that method instead of posting them here as the info will be processed in the correct way. Please also note just because its submitted doesn't mean it will be blocked right away all info will be analyzed and used to help decide if the info should be added to the database but it definitly helps expand the database and identify them as bots faster if you do submit their info. Thx :D

yeah the feature is going to be disabled by default and you can enable/disable the feature in the admin area of the module :)

Yeah I do agree however the feature was requested and I have had bots send me emails from the contact form on one of my Drupal sites. I plan on noting the fact that a false positive coud be returned under the checkbox to enable the feature and also if it returns a positive on the results I plan on having it display a message to contact the site administrator and give the admins email address in the message I think this should work well enough. The admin could at that time create the user account for them or direct them to your site for removal but thanks for suggesting this I understand your concern about the feature I had the same concerns but decided to add the feature anyhow.

Hey its been a while now Im still waiting for my Drupal module to be pushed to a fully suported module. Unfortunatly I applied while they were in the middle of a trasfer from the cvs versioning system to a git versioning system so my application has been delayed but hopefully soon it will be fully supported :)

I am nearing completion on the Drupal 7x module and wanted to tell you all about some new features. The module now not only blocks the registration form but also the site wide contact form. There is also a new botscout footer that reads "This site protected by BotScout" with a link back to this site :), and also there is a bot count this tells you how many bots the module has blocked since installation on your site. Furthermore I have added help documentation into the site help section to help new user get used to and configure or install the module.

heres a pic of the new footer being sported on my development page:

As always i would love to hear any suggestions for future addons or if you have any bug reports please let me know the module will be done soon and I will post the page where it can be downloaded once the final testing is done and I make it available

Hello I have created a module for Drupal 6x and a Drupal 7x module is in development. For installation and configuration please see the readme file
The module is available at this time in 3 compressed formats:
7 ZIP formathttp://public.acetolyne.net/botscout_v11_Drupal6x.7z
TAR formathttp://public.acetolyne.net/botscout_v11_Drupal6x.tar
ZIP formathttp://public.acetolyne.net/botscout_v11_Drupal6x.zip

My module is being review to become a fully supported add-on module for Drupal Soon as I get approved the files can only be hosted from drupals site so I will put a new link at that point. The module works great but if you have suggestions, comments, or bug reports please feel free to post them here or on my site at
http://www.acetolyne.net/BotScout
Ill post also when the module is available for Drupal 7x

BotScout Discussion / Re: Welcome to BotScout

I have got it working now I had to delete the modifications I made and do the install using the package manager in SMF I tested two emails and it comes up with the error "registration has been disabled" or something similar I appriciate this service an will be installing the fake form server you provide here. This is a honeypot I would guess. I think you should add to the readme that the package can be installed using the package manager in SMF rather than the instructions provided. This program has many of the bots I have got on my forums and I am in full support it. Anything I can do to help this program grow I am more than willing to do thx for providing it.

I added the line in the register.php and added the botscout.php file to the sources folder and made the line in register.php point to it

to test it I took an email address from the 200 last found page and created an account using it the registration went through and the account was created as usual

idk why i have followed the directions in the installation and preoceeded to test it but it isnt working correctly the only step I couldnt do is uncmment the line that cooresponds to the board im using. I couldnt find a line that stated that Is this because I am using the SMF specific download? any help would be appriciated. Im not sure what other info would be useful to you. Thx in advance for any suggestions.

Also I wanted to say ty for providing this service.
